8. Grenfell Road / South Road, Maidenhead - Raised Junction Proposal - Closed
Following the recent consultation on a possible Zebra crossing in Grenfell Road and a one-way system for South Road, the borough has reviewed the feedback received and an alternative scheme is being considered.
Concerns raised with the previous scheme were primarily related to potential queuing at the High Town Road and impacts on traffic in South Road and East Road arising from the one-way system, as well as concerns about implications for parking and deliveries near the shop, if a Zebra crossing is installed. There were also requests for measures to reduce traffic speed and improve safety in Grenfell Road.
We are keen to receive feedback from residents on an alternative scheme aimed at addressing the concerns about traffic speed, whilst also assisting pedestrians in crossing Grenfell Road near the South Road junction, local store and footpath linking to Kings Grove.
The scheme would involve raising the road surface at the junction of Grenfell Road with South Road, to create a raised junction arrangement. This would include the provision of a flush crossing point for pedestrians with tactile paving for visually impaired pedestrians.
To view a plan showing the proposals, please see the Grenfell Road / South Road Raised Junction plan.
Although it will not be possible to respond individually to responses received, all responses will be taken into consideration and will help inform a decision on how to proceed.
The consultation closed on Sunday 9 December 2018.
