1. Postal Votes

Electors may apply to vote by post where they know that they are going to be absent from their home and can't visit their polling station on the date of a poll.

Electors who wish to vote by post for any election or referendum are now required to provide personal identifiers (i.e. their date of birth and a specimen of their signature) on their postal vote application form. These personal identifiers will be stored securely and are referenced at the time of an election to verify the details provided on completed postal voting statements.

At the time of an election the Notice of Election or Referendum will give the dates when new applications and amendments to existing applications must be received by the Electoral Registration Officer.
