3. We are here to help

We know that many people will have questions or concerns about what educational psychologists do and why we're needed when children are facing problems in their lives. The most important point for you to remember is that we are here to help.

We can help by throwing new light on any issues and assist you, your child and the school to find pathways to resolve them. We act as an impartial voice for your child.

You are not alone

This may be an anxious time for any parent or carer, and it is important for you to know that you are not alone; teachers talk to us about a lot of children. We work with many children every year and deal with a wide range of issues.

These can include difficulties with:

  • Reading and learning.
  • Communication and social interaction.
  • Emotional and behaviour concern.

If the concerns you have discussed with your child's teacher are not listed above, don't worry. This list is not designed to cover every aspect of our work.
