1. Term dates in the Royal Borough

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead sets the term dates for:

  • community schools.
  • voluntary controlled schools.

The following types of schools are responsible for setting their own term dates, although most do still use the borough's term dates:

  • academies.
  • free schools.
  • voluntary aided schools.

Holyport College, a free school, does have different term dates to those set by the borough.  Please contact the school direct for its term dates.

Inset days

Inset (or teaching training days) are set by individual schools, and pupils do not usually attend school on these days. Please contact your school direct for its inset day dates.

The first day of the Autumn term is generally an inset day for all schools.

Term dates in other local authorities

The Royal Borough works with neighbouring local authorities so that term dates match across the region as far as possible.  You can find the term dates of these local authorities on their websites:

Future term dates

The Royal Borough sets its term dates about 18 months in advance.  We have just, therefore, published the term dates for 2019/20.  We will publish dates for 2020/21 in Spring 2019.
