Poppy Making

Tuesday 23 October 2018, 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm
Come and make poppies to commemorate the Royal Borough’s fallen WW1 soldiers. This is one of a series of events in the lead up to Remembrance Day in this centenary year.
Sessions run from 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm and are aimed at ages 4-11 years.
Free entry.
No need to book, just drop in!

 

Hands on History

Thursday 25 October 2018, 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm
Join us in this exciting session getting to grips with the past. Feel and touch WW1 objects and hear some of the fascinating stories behind them.
Sessions run from 10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm and are aimed at ages 4-11 years.
£2.00 per child, £1.00 with an Advantage Card and one accompanying adult free.
No need to book, just drop in!

 

Letters from the Front - Local Historian and Academic Dr Brigitte Mitchell

Tolkien: from the trenches to Middle-earth - An evening with Tolkien biographer John Gath

Friday 2 November 2018, 7.30pm
Join the renowned author of ‘Tolkien and the Great War’, John Garth, for a special talk on how Tolkien’s haunting wartime experiences inspired his unique world of Middle-earth. John’s talk follows on from the recent Tolkien publication, ‘The Fall of Gondolin’.
John’s wartime biography of the author was hailed as ‘the best book about Tolkien that has yet been written' (A.N. Wilson, The Evening Standard), and we’re very, very pleased to be hosting him at the Guildhall.
This will be popular: tickets can be booked online or in person at Maidenhead or Windsor Library. Booking is essential.

Christmas Crafts

The museum will be part of the festivities in Windsor as the Christmas lights are switched on. Come and warm up at our Christmas craft event from 2-6pm.
The museum will be open from 10am – 6pm. Craft event will run from 2pm-6pm.
