6. Local history
Are you interested in where you live or researching your family tree?
Ever wondered why Peascod street in Windsor has that name? Or when Ascot Races first started? Or when the Nicholsons Centre in Maidenhead was first built?
We now offer a weekly evening drop-in service for local history enquiries between 5pm-7pm at libraries across the borough.
- 1st Floor, Windsor library, Bachelors Acre, Tuesdays 5pm-7pm.
- Nicholson Room, 1st Floor, Maidenhead library, St Ives Road, Wednesdays 5pm-7pm.
- Ascot library on Thursdays 5pm-7pm.
Each week the team will share our local studies collection and offer new insights into the history of our borough.
The local studies team will be available to deal with your enquiries and help with your research. Pop in with your questions and share your knowledge on local history in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
