1. Fit for Life Week : offer a free session at your club

Friday 27 September- Sunday 6 October 2019

Following on from the June 2019 free Fit for Life Week and linked to an increase in demand from clubs who are looking to start and or promote their clubs/activities to older residents. We are looking at running a similar promotion specifically targeting people over 55 plus.

Background 

This is joint project with sports development and public health and will follow National Falls prevention awareness week (23-29 September 2019) promotion signposting residents to local clubs and activity providers to support the prevention agenda as well as to promote healthy lifestyles among the over 55's.    

Clubs/sports providers are invited to promote their session/s that are aimed at this age group or above that run during the week for free. The Borough’s Sports Development Team will put together an online timetable for the campaign that will be promoted through local social media, local networks and leaflets with the full timetable of what is on.

How to get involved

The easiest and quickest way to get involved is to add the regular session/s you have during that week in the online form below. Alternatively, you may like to add a one off beginner’s taster session during that week.

When completing the form, please give as much information as possible to support a beginner’s experience who may have little or no understanding of the sport/activity.

Please note: this particular promotion is aimed at 55+ but where you have activity that caters for younger adults as well, we can include that in the advertising with the same offer.

The main criteria are that sessions you run are suitable for adults 55+  and that it is offered for free during the promotion if the minimum age is younger please make sure this is included and the sessions can be opened up to them as well. It is also important to prepare for all levels of ability from a complete beginner to someone coming back to the sport/activity.

For the promotion you can advertise up to three sessions during the week. The information you send through will be collated and added to the timetable.
