1. Electric vehicle charge points
Electric vehicle charge points
Apps are available which provide a map of public charging points available in the borough and across the UK. These are available online and via smart phone apps for iOS and Android devices.
There are two electric vehicle charging points on the lower ground floor of Hines Meadow Multi-Storey Car Park in Maidenhead. These have Type 2 sockets supplying 7.2kW. They are operated and maintained by Chargemaster.
The charging points can be used on a pay-as-you-go basis via the POLAR Instant app (available via the App Store or Google Play). For further information, see the Polar Instant website.
The charging points are also available to POLAR Plus subscribers who pay a monthly subscription which allows access to the charge points for free. For further information, see the POLAR Plus website.
The POLAR apps and website have maps that show:
- The locations of charge points,
- The power and socket types available at each charge point,
- Car park opening times,
- The current tariffs for each charging point,
- Whether or not the charge point is in use.
Please note: Users of the charge points in Hines Meadow must pay for parking and display a valid ticket, or display a valid season ticket for that car park.
To report an issue with these charging points, please contact Chargemaster directly on 03300 165 126.
Request an on-street electric vehicle charging point
To help us identify the best locations for on-street charging points, we have designed a short survey to collect requests from residents who already have an electric vehicle or who are considering getting one in the near future.
We intend to submit a funding bid to the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) in 2018 and hope to install the first charging points early in 2019.
