Royal Borough Development Partnership
In April 2017 Countryside Partnerships South was selected as preferred bidder by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead for the regeneration of Maidenhead town centre.
We aim to build a thriving town centre with new homes, shops, businesses and community areas for residents old and new to enjoy, and this partnership with Countryside will assist us to deliver that ambition.
York Road Opportunity Area
A major redevelopment site in Maidenhead has been consented following approval from the planning authority.
The approved plans are part of a wider plan to regenerate Maidenhead which will see 229 new homes alongside a community space and food and café outlets on the banks of Maidenhead waterways.
The York Road site is part of the town’s joint venture site and is the first of four which bring more affordable homes for residents and allow them an opportunity to purchase homes if they have lived or grown up in the borough.
The rejuvenation of York Road, the area to the south of the High Street, includes a £1m investment to enhance and improve existing buildings and public realm, uniting areas of the town south of the library and creating new pedestrian-friendly and cycle connections from York Road to the Nicholsons Centre.
The scheme brings an additional 229 homes to the town of which 30% (68 homes) will be affordable homes - a mix of shared ownership, affordable rent (rent set at local housing allowance levels) and social rent.
The council is also delivering a further 8% (20 homes) affordable homes on site by way of a public subsidy, providing a total of 38% affordable (88 homes).
There will also be 20,000 sq ft of commercial space for food and beverage outlets and a new home for Maidenhead Heritage Centre and a community space. Building work has now started on the site with the first homes expected to be completed by Autumn 2020.
