Community-led housing events
Published: Wednesday, 22nd November 2017
Social enterprise Ecomotive will be holding their first two public events around community-led housing in the Royal Borough over the next few weeks.
These events are an opportunity for residents to come together to explore options for community led housing and identify solutions meeting the needs of local communities.
Earlier this year the council commissioned the group to explore the potential for community-led housing in the borough.
The events will be in:
• Windsor, at Dedworth Green Baptist Church on Wednesday 22 November. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start and the meeting will close at 9pm.
• Maidenhead, at High Street Methodist Church on Tuesday 28 November. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start and the meeting will close at 9pm.
Attendance is free however you can in advance sign up on the Eventbrite events pages. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-community-land-trust-in-windsor-tickets-39696133203
The project is being funded from a £103,375 grant awarded from the Government’s £60 million Community Housing Fund for 2016-17.
Cllr Ross McWilliams, principal member for housing and communications, said: “Building genuinely affordable homes to buy and to rent for local people in the Royal Borough is vital for the council.
“I believe too many young adults, families and other first-time buyers are unable to get onto the housing ladder and this has to change.
“We are committed to building homes for everyone and I look forward to these upcoming events.”
