Community e-Board

An electronic messaging board has been unveiled at Windsor Visitor Information Centre, to let residents know about upcoming community events.

The idea was suggested as part of the Royal Borough’s Bright Ideas competition, organised by Windsor St George Rotary Club, which invites residents to submit their ideas with the chance for them to be funded.

Eleanor Smith, who came up with this winning idea, said: “I recognised Windsor’s need for such a notice board and I’m over the moon that my idea was chosen as the competition winner.

“It is so great to be able to say that I have contributed to the community, and I think the e-Board will be of great benefit to residents.”

Councillor Samantha Rayner, cabinet member for culture and communities, said: “I think the new community notice board is a wonderful addition to the tourist office.

“Windsor is a vibrant town with lots of events and activities so this will be a great place to help all the amazing community groups share their event dates and details.”

The information board designed fits perfectly into a space at the Royal Windsor Information Centre, allowing it to be connected with existing screen management software.

The screen will be a dedicated space for local community organisations to post details of their events free of charge.

Chris Davies, project manager for the competition on behalf of Windsor St George Rotary Club, said: “We are so happy to be a part of the Bright Ideas competition and we absolutely loved Eleanor’s entry, so it’s great to see it now become a reality.”
