Mayor's appeal for donations

Published: Thursday, 9th April 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on our local NHS services, with many NHS staff working tirelessly to look after us to keep us safe and well.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Wexham Park, Heatherwood and Frimley Hospital, together with other local health professionals, are in need of sets of non-surgical scrubs for their staff, including the additional staff that have been recruited to deal with the major influx of COVID-19 patients. These non-surgical scrubs will help to reduce the risk of cross contamination for those key health workers at our local hospitals.

A local fashion manufacturer, Lynda Yong Couture, has a team of seamstresses who have agreed to donate their time to make these essential garments for NHS staff. If you are an experience seamstress and would like to make some scrubs please contact Lynda Yong’s Studio on 01344 628200.

The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor Sayonara Luxton, is co-ordinating a fundraising effort to purchase the much-needed material to make the non-surgical scrubs. If you would like to make a donation for the purchase this material the payment details are:

Name: The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead

The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor Mrs Sayonara Luxton, said “I would like to thank all the people who have so far generously contributed to this appeal either by making a monetary donation or giving their time and expertise to make the scrubs. The medical staff have been delighted with the scrubs – some of which are in very colourful cheerful fabric – and also with the messages of support that the sewers have included with the scrubs. Thank you all for your support. I am indeed grateful, as our medical staff and patients are too. Take care, stay safe and well”.

To enable the Mayor to keep an accurate record of donations it would be appreciated if you could please confirm your donation preferably by sending an email to the Mayor at [email protected] or ringing the Mayor’s Secretary on 01628 696223. It would be useful to have your name, contact details and the amount donated.
