Walking

Getting active represents physical activity; this is any body movement that requires you to use energy. This is great because it doesn’t mean you have to go near a gym or run a marathon; walking or gardening still count.

You don’t have to be young, or even particularly fit to become more active. How much physical activity you need to do each week depends on your age.

Why not try something new? Swimming, aqua aerobics, cycling, bowls, yoga, walking, Nordic walking and golf are just some of the things you can get involved in.

Locally there are plenty of opportunities to get active. Find out where your local sports club, park or leisure centre is.
