Mental wellbeing for adults

Older people

Mental health is the emotional and spiritual resilience which enables us to enjoy life and to survive pain, disappointment and sadness. It is a positive sense of wellbeing and an under lying belief of our own and others' dignity and worth (HEA 1997).

Mental wellbeing is profoundly important to our quality of life and our ability to cope with life's ups and downs. It helps protect us against illness, social inequalities and unhealthy lifestyles.
